In partnership with Procter & Gamble (P&G), and with the support from the National Youth Council, Empact developed a programme called ‘Pro Bono School’ for social sector leaders to learn and enhance their skills and knowledge. Through the programme, skilled corporate volunteers are matched with social sector leaders for the transfer of skills and knowledge, with the goal of developing the capacity and capabilities of their social organisation.
The Pro Bono School (PBS) format typically follows a one-to-many training, followed by further application to the organisations’ context through a one-to-one consultation with skilled volunteers.
As part of the President’s Volunteerism & Philanthropy Award (PVPA) 2022, Empact, together with P&G, was conferred the City of Good Award category for PBS, in which the award recognises cross-sector partnerships for good that have achieved significant and sustainable impact and effectiveness, resulting in lasting contributions to society.mpact collaborated with NCSS on the VMCD Consultancy Project to build volunteer management capabilities for Social Service Agencies (SSAs) and SG Cares Volunteer Centres (VCs).
Results of Our Work
Since its inception in 2016 till today, PBS has been effective in making capability building and skills development affordable and accessible to social organisations. Thus far, more than 1,000 social sector leaders from more than 400 unique social organisations have participated in over 40 PBS sessions.
For P&G, the involvement of their Marketing team in 2016 has since grown to include their Human Resources team, Innovation team and Customer Insights team.
