As part of our scope of work for the NCSS Volunteer Management Capability Development (VMCD) Consultancy Project 7.0, Empact is engaged to design and deliver a sectoral resource on Volunteer Impact Assessment (VIA) to support social service practitioners to assess and demonstrate the impact of volunteering.Â
Empact’s Work:
For our work on the VIA sectoral resource, Empact is engaged to:
Conduct stakeholder engagement, validation and socialisation for the Volunteer Impact Assessment framework with stakeholders in the volunteering ecosystem, including government agencies, social service agencies and funders
Design a user-friendly overall impact measurement framework, outcomes and indicators for use by social service practitioners to assess the different domains of impact that volunteering can bring
Relevant Insights & Learnings
As volunteer impact assessment is new to the sector, it is of critical importance to involve stakeholders early and at every stage of the process, both to ensure relevance of the developed framework and to gather alignment and buy-in for its eventual implementation. Volunteerism is a key aspect to a fabric of care. Our work in developing relevant outcomes and indicators for volunteering has given us valuable insights into operationalising the measurement of informal efforts and structures of care.
